SEO. Social Media and a Book to help you out!

So I have been on my share of business conventions where there is a listing of speakers who’s subject they are going to speak about can pique your curiosity. So you want to see them, right? Even if it’s on a subject you have knowledge of. You want to pick up some tips and info that you may not have heard of before so you can help your clients. So I went to one recently, the lineup was great but I wanted to hear a guy talk about social media and seo because that is what I do. I listened what he told the mostly unwashed audience about his sage advice on social media and seo. What a load of B.S. this guy spouted.

Beat down? Can’t get motivated? Tired of the ridicule? Try this for inspiration.

We all have had those days. World against you. Trying to get your business going. You aren’t good enough. You don’t have the look. You aren’t smart enough at work. Don’t have the money. Not enough hours in the day. Maybe you are unemployed. All you need is that little break but you aren’t getting it. Blame the world, that’s the easy way out and NO arguement will change that. You HAVE to make your own luck or opportunity. Here are two people that didn’t have the look, life short changed them in one way or another but they made their own luck and opportunity and are wildy successful and there is NO reason you can’t make it either, my friend.

So how effective is billboard advertising if they put a website address up on it?

Ok, traditional advertising mavens, you are gonna HATE me for writing about this. But hear me out as you scramble to save your job.

I’m going along at 55-70 mph (Here in Texas, that’s under the speed limit) and I am whizzing by and I see an eye catching ad. Cool right? It had the proper elements about the biz that made me look but I’m going so quickly I don’t see the web address on the billboard or it’s there but because the elements are so long with the www dot or it’s not a dot com but a dot net or dot us or something. Or it’s in type so small you can’t read it. WTF? Their business name may not even match what we would think the web address should be and I have seen that time and time again. (Who helped them get that domain name? For shame)

Social Media and the B.S. that is out there.

Seriously, this is how I feel sometimes when people start talking about how much they know about social media. This is what I hear a LOT. “Yeah, I know how to use Facebook and Twitter to help a business out” Really? How? “Oh, I just tell my friends what I am doing or post something about the next big party going on and I use that for the business so it will make them popular also” Huh? What? You are saying WHAT? THAT is what is helping a business out? Wow. Unless they are giving away drinks and it’s a bar, I don’t think that is going to work.
